Suspended after an address change

Updated November 4, 2026

Moving offices, correcting a typo, or switching from a home address to a shop all look routine. To Google they are a reason to look again. A name, address or category edit is one of the most common things owners mention right before a suspension.

Why address edits trigger reviews

A new address has to be confirmed against something: your documents, the street itself, and whether other businesses already claim it. Suspensions tend to follow when:

Storefronts and offices

If customers really come to the new location, the profile, your lease, your signage and your registration all need to agree, down to the suite number, before you appeal. Expect Google to ask for video verification.

Service-area businesses

This is the harder case. For businesses that hide their address, experienced volunteers on Google's community forums report that changing the hidden address after verification can be very difficult to reverse, and that some of these profiles only come back with a real, staffed and signed location shown publicly. If you have not edited it yet, think twice before you do.

Common questions

Why did changing my address get my profile suspended?
An address edit makes Google re-check the profile. If the new address cannot be confirmed, does not match your documents, or looks like a mailbox or virtual office, the profile can be suspended until you prove the location.
Can I just change the address back?
Changing it back does not usually undo the review, and repeated edits can look worse. Fix the address to what is true, gather matching evidence, and appeal once.
